America’s Next Top Model First Runner-Up Has Dyslexia

In the final episode of America’s Next Top Model, Nicole and Laura have been the only ones left in the competition. The final challenge was a CoverGirl commercial. Laura was very worried about reading the scripts because of her dyslexia. The next day, Laura ended up doing well and she was proud to have won over her dyslexia.

At the end, the judges decided that Nicole will become America’s Next Top Model. Nevertheless, Laura should be signed by an agency as well since she did an excellent job and was close to winning the competition.

Novel written by dyslexic author aims to help children with learning disabilites

The author Keefe Deighan has just published a novel after being diagnosed with adult dyslexia just seven years ago. He is now 29 year old and his first novel “The Land of O.” is specially written for children with learning disabilities. The core message of the book is that kids with learning disabilities are nothing less than anybody else.

Racing Legend Jackie Stewart got diagnosed with dyslexia at age 41.

RACING legend Sir Jackie Stewart has disclosed that he has become penpals with a dyslexic captive in one of Scotland’s hardest jails.
The former Formula one world champion, who also suffers from dyslexia, asserts he answered after getting a touching letter from the con.

He plans to visit him in Edinburgh’s Saughton jail within weeks. He informed the sunday Mail the man’s reading issues might have guided him into a life of crime and requested more support for young sufferers. Sir Jackie expounded he didn’t need to name the prisoner without his authorization – but revealed he was serving about nine years.

Sir Jackie, who got raised in Dumbarton and won three Formula one world championships in the latter Sixties and early Seventies, discovered he was dyslexic at the age of 41.

International Dyslexia Association – 60th Annual Conference

The 60th Annual Conference of the International Dyslexia Association is taking place on November 11-14 2009 at the Walt Disney World resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Approximately 3,000 special-education teachers, educators, speech-language pathologists, healthcare professionals and researchers from the US and around the world are expected to attend.

The International Dyslexia Association Conference is one of the premier professional development conference in the U.S. discussing learning disabilities and dyslexia.

Dyslexia Caused By Weak Eye Muscles

MailOnline from the UK has reported that maybe up to 400,000 childern in the UK have dyslexia because of weak eye-muscles. If the eye muscles are weak, they don’t move as quickly and co-ordinated as healthy eyes.

Because of that eye weakness, these kids have a hard time focusing on printed words in a book or article. This can lead to headaches and very sensitive brain cells. The actual page is perceived as being very bright which makes it difficult and tyring to read for children with weak eye-muscles.
