What is it like to have dyslexia? Animations & Illustrations
This is a series of animations taken from a project aimed at helping people to find out what it is like to have dyslexia. The animations were created by illustration students working with health professionals as part of our new Health Design Technology Institute. The DVD ‘Demystifying Visual Dyslexia’ can be bought on the Coventry University website. It is just one of the great examples of our students using their skills to help people.

@dyslexia1000 that is one theory i think to most important thing to remember it that we don’t fully understand how the brian works as so there is a lot of variation in theories. none of which have been proven.
@ajcjacob I would just like to let you (and others) know, seeing as you seem to be interested in learning about Dyslexia, that it is not a learning disorder. It is what’s called a visual perception disorder. It is caused by the message each eye sends to the brain being out of sink.

i have dyslexia. it can be worse on some days than others. like, if i have a bad day, i make a million mistakes when i’m writing or typing. but even on good days i can accidentally switch letters around while reading of writing. i get the color-changing background if it is a big paragraph. but, if there is ever a cure, then i dont want it
is it kind of like they are hallucinating when looking at the words?
Merriam-webster
“Main Entry: pho·to·syn·the·sis
Pronunciation: -ˈsin(t)-thə-səs
Function: noun
Etymology: New Latin
Date: 1898
: synthesis of chemical compounds with the aid of radiant energy and especially light; especially : formation of carbohydrates from carbon dioxide and a source of hydrogen (as water) in the chlorophyll-containing tissues of plants exposed to light”
Photosynthesis has nothing to do with dyslexia. Merriam-Webster for the win.
the bad boy was quiet and forgot to protecct his mad wife??? lol!

Excellent video..especially for those of us who want to learn about this learning disorder!
I have dyslecksea to. And the video it is kind of what it feels like to me.
Dyslexia is hard, but I can thank it in a way..
I’ve strugelled with it since I was in Kinder Garden.
eh in my country, the schools don’t know what it is, so the student who have this problem, must work twice harder…
I am Dyslexic and can relate to this video quite a lot. I see blocks of colour around the words, lines shifting etc.
Problem is not many people know I have it, infact I work as a software developer and no one at my work knows I have it. I would like to let them know so they understand some of the things I do to get around it but I don’t want to be judged by people who don’t really know what it is. Wierd thing is when I write software I don’t have any problems as it is more symbols than words.
@roinbandit2 your a twat and lucky not to have it! its not fun and games
Thank you.
@kolu5357 I don’t think you need his permission; that’s why there is the embedded code, so you can use the video on other websites!

My school discovered i have dyslexia wen i was 6. im an art student in nyc now, im 18. i do sometimes get confused wen i read lines, my eyes do seem to just uncontrollably move around the lines, and i have to find the place were i started again. i guesss it happens to alot of people, but then again i cant really say it happens to me more, since i dont go around asking ppl if they lose lines often. I hate reading, and avoid it as much as i can, ironicaly i got straight A’s in englh in high school
