Anyone could tell me how I can help my 11 year old daughter. It is very frustrating when you try and try to help without results.

TheLouise116 @ 6:16 am

I got dyslexia and it hard but at school I get lots of help so people do help you

jarrod1937 @ 7:09 am

Take note that there is very little if any evidence that Einstein had dyslexia. Actually there is plenty of evidence to the contrary and even some of Einstein’s biographers say that he did not have any learning disabilities in the least.
To me this makes the rest of the list at least a little suspect.

i’m dyslexic… i couldnt tell the difference between a small b and d untill i was about 8 years old.. and i couldnt tell which was left or right untill i was 12.. i had trouble reading and remembering… teachers gave up on me so i dropped out of school… now i’m studying hairstyling =)

chrisno27 @ 7:34 am

wow Tom Cruise is dyslexic !!!!!

TheTraveler92 @ 8:27 am

@ntrm93 Oh, and another wonderful thing, because dyslexics don’t have the ability to follow the normal guidelines for correct grammar, spelling and puncuation we are much more creative when it comes to creating stories and such. Just think about Da Vinci and Stephen Hawkins to name a few. I hope I helped you out a bit with this information :)

TheTraveler92 @ 8:56 am

@ntrm93 Asking teachers for as much help as he needs will be a great way of getting through the whole learning process. Along with asking for enlarged test papers and more time to take tests and exams can make a big difference.
I’m Dutch, and if I can learn English like I just showed you I’ll guarrantee you there are many tricks and ways to get through life :)

TheTraveler92 @ 9:44 am

@ntrm93 It is a struggle, but it doesn’t have to make life any harder. Your brother is lucky that they discovered it at such a young age. I didn’t know I had dyslexia until the beginning of High School and I always believed people who called me stupid, lazy, slow and retarded. Even through High School I still had to prove that what I had wasen’t a mental problem, at least I knew it was because I had dyslexia and not a low IQ.

cloughers @ 9:46 am

dyslexia is over diagnosed. It’s diagnosed so that teachers can cover their bad teaching methods.

ntrm93 @ 10:25 am

We recently found out my brother has dyslexia. He is only 9 yrs old. I don’t know how to help him. I’ve been searching the internet in order to find way in making it easier for him. I hate it that he will have to strugle the rest of his lyfe…

I’m Dyslexic, and it effects my writing more than my reading. For my School certificate this year, i’m getting PC and a reader.
It’s so moving, i love it.

jdc4kidz @ 12:25 pm

I am showing this at a staff/school improvement meeting I am presenting at. Very moving.

MrSplashx @ 12:36 pm

@flightkite1
im dyslexic hearing people talk out one of my ears is hard, in my optinion dyslexia comes with other abnormalities, not so much getting wrong answers as messing things up, like typing the wrong word out even tho i spelled it correctly, its just not the wright word. im in 3rd year university major zoology.

TokiThor @ 1:12 pm

@FannySMUDGE I never said I didn’t want to help him. I always help him, but it can get pretty annoying actually

FannySMUDGE @ 2:09 pm

@TokiThor Hmm… you seem like a very inconsiderate person… You don’t care that your friend needs help?

ThisCoolKidx @ 2:46 pm

Most those dyslexic people became FIGHTERS, ACTORS, GENERALS, Lmao. Albert Einstein, and Thomas Edison was impressive.

Lovelivetourettes @ 3:37 pm

I know how you feel!

TokiThor @ 3:43 pm

I have a friend who has Dyslexia. No offence to anyone, but it is so freakin’ annoying, when he always asks me what some words say!

beatleboy345 @ 4:39 pm

Feals god to not b alon

animecrazy102 @ 4:58 pm

I wasn’t not making fun of anyone. I asked and I quote “aside from letters/numbers are other things switched up in life? Does it affect anything else.”
You misunderstood my question. I’m just wondering because it affects a part of the brain, maybe it affects other things too.

unrealriot @ 5:47 pm

As for me, I’m in Calculus 3, but the part i’m struggling is wordy problems because of my lack of language skills due to my learning disability. I also have short term memory, and its really hard for me to remember general stuff.

flightkite1 @ 6:18 pm

Like most dyslexia people, I have struggled greatly despite much educational aid from schools and my parents. Up until my senior year in high school did my teachers and parents think i would never make it to college. As of right now i am in my second year becoming a biology major and a psy minor with little help. I have a question though, do any of you feel that despite the difficulties with math and spelling, that a lot of dyslexics are more intelligent than most? Just Curious.
